Hello.

This is probably a bit sad, but...

My husband and I moved to Cottingham in October. He works in Hull, so he knows lots of people up here. I am continuing with my old job, which online, so I do not get to meet people (well, other then the Fitmums, who I go out walking with, most Wednesdays).

I have not found any 'social' activities, where I would get to talk to people. I go to some exercise classes, but although there are lots of friendly people, it is not really that social.

So, are there any social activities here in Cottingham which I can do?

As the title says, I am looking for a cleaner, from January. We recently moved here, and our house is a four-bedroom one, in central Cottingham. Please let me know if you work as a cleaner yourself, or if you have a cleaner who might be happy to do another house, once a week. It will just be vacuuming/dusting/cleaning in the bathrooms/toilets.

Hello.

We moved up to Cottingham a few weeks ago, and are really pleased with it. 

I want to arrange a cleaner for a couple of hours a week, just for general dusting/vacuuming/mopping/cleaning of the bathrooms. I need to know:

a) What is a typical hourly rate for this type of thing?

b) Where can I find someone to do this for me? (I am not asking if any of you will do it, I am just asking where I should look!).

I'm a refuse worker and lost my wedding ring somewhere in cottingham. St Margarets ,eppleworth rd green lane area . I'm thinking the most probable area is green lane probably the field were I took my break. 

Does anyone have a any secure storage space I can rent. I am considerate and will be respectful to your wishes if it is on your property. I am willing to pay for the right space. I would prefer the Cottingham area. Please message me with details. Regards.  

Just to make you  all aware that we have unfortunately had to have our long term cat put to rest but although it was the very last thing we both wanted to do it's not as simple as you may think. 

To soften the blow for me the wife and our pet we contacted our local vet to try and  arrange this to be done at our home so the cat would be at least be more comfortable and relaxed which was explained to the vets and we were willing to pay additional costs for this service. 

The vets answer was no they did not have enough staff to cover this and  the first appointment they had at the vets was Tuesday (over 4 days away) the importance of the euthanasia was stressed to them over and over! On hitting this brick wall with our local vet whom we were registered with we rang around surrounding areas in the hope that some vet could or would do the humane thing but unless you are registered with them they cannot help you and they are not taking on any more as they also had a shortage of vets, the last couple of days has been horrendous having to ring around trying to find a helpful vet to put our much loved poorly cat to sleep it was like trying to find a dentist or a doctors surgery to treat us!!! 

Surely these highly skilled and well paid vets go into this profession as animals lovers that should pull out all of the stops to be supportive to the pet owners  and humane when really necessary??? 

We are both livid still with our local vets where our pet has been registered  for years and treated for a good part of this year. 

This is not a rant  but a warning to pet lovers/owners that vets are really not there for you or your pet in your hour of need, in fact a 10 minute out of hours appointment would have been suffice!!!! 

ANIMAL LOVERS /PET OWNERS CURRENT AND FUTURE, Please keep focused tomorrow on here for some honest advice /concerns which has really shocked us today as deceased pet owners but its too fresh to speak about at the moment but feel strongly that we need to raise so many concerns and worries that have raised our eyebrows today from local and surrounding vets...  We have found it astonishing!!!!! 

Does anyone please have any paving slabs that are surplus to requirements and could deliver in Cottingham?  I need 12 basic smooth concrete slabs 60 x 60 cm, not too bothered about condition,  I am going to paint them.

Please help my mums cat managed to climb out the window on 29/10 and hasn't been seen since. Shes a house cat and never been outside as she's a rescue. It was around the south street/baynard avenue roundabout area. Shes a beautiful long haired cat, dark brown, ginger and white.
