I found the people ok, it is a small village like lots of places in the UK, quite rural but Ayrshire is rural unless your maybe in North Ayrshire where you can be pretty close to Glasgow if you want a good day out with plenty of choice for something to do or for more chance of work.
There isn't much at all to do in drongan or nearby compared to Glasgow but that goes without saying. If you like rural then you'll get on fine.
Beware if you do move to Drongan, of Garry Morrison ( moose ) you can't miss him, his teeth are black and needing cleaned, he looks like a skinny little smackhead junkie. He may think he is a tough guy or the look out for the community or something ( he isn't anything to worry about btw, don't be concerned ) a slight wind would knock him over, he certainly isn't a hard nut, he couldn't fight his way out of a paper bag with a machine gun.
He's known for knocking on peoples doors who are new to the village and telling them the whole street thinks that you are a paedophile. A nice welcome isn't it.
Don't be alarmed ( unless you are a nonce ) it's just his way of getting a kick. I don't think he's a junkie, he just looks like one, dirty, unkempt, smelly. But avoid him anyway. He'll have a slash mark soon if he keeps this behaviour up.
Despite what you read or hear, the place is not full of junkies or bad people, just an old mining area which you see all over the UK.
It's no worse than any other place of that size or history.
