Fix a sticking external door. - 0 replies

Craftingnanna Posted by Craftingnanna in Recommended Tradesmen and Companies in Gosport on Sun Oct 1, 2023 2:14pm

I am looking for a local tradesperson to fix a 1930's front door. It needs weatherproofing and keeps sticking. We cannot replace the door as it is a rental property.

Hi,

I just wanted to invite you to visit 21 Alverstoke private gardens and allotments on 17 and 18 June.  It will be a great day out for all the family, there's a model railway, treasure hunt in every garden and a couple of air raid shelters to explore. As you know our  seaside microclimate allows palms and exotic plants to thrive together with mature shrubs, while ponds, model railways, plant walls and garden art make the Walkabout a must visit event.

Who doesn’t enjoy a good look around other people’s gardens?

There will be affordable Plant sales and refreshments  so bring cash! And for parents a Pimm's tent at Parish centre.

The Parish Centre will be open for toilets and teas, strawberries & cream and you will be able to view the plans for the proposed new Parish Centre, for which this event is raising money, charity number  St Mary’s Alverstoke PCC, 1130178

TICKETS still only: £8 each, children free and with this you can visit on both days so 21 gardens, 35 alotments and St Marks Graveyard.

Hi Folks,

Does anyone know this old business / warehouse behind Wetherspoons on the high street? It has a great logo on the large doors that can be seen from Mumby Rd, opposite Aldi.. I just wondered about the company and what they did there but nothing on google? Any locals know anything of it's history?

Thanks.. Olly

Sally63 Posted by Sally63 in Things to do and what's on in Gosport on Thu Jun 17, 2021 8:19pm

Alverstoke Garden Walkabout.

Private Gardens in Alverstoke, on the Hampshire Solent, will be open to the public on 3rd and 4th July.

Come and see gardens of all shapes and sizes, front and back; have some tea; buy plants and garden produce; and best of all have a nosey around someone else's garden! It is a really lovely sociable event.

Tickets £8, Children under 12 FREE! Tickets available online: https://www.trybooking.co.uk/BABQ

The usual Covid precautions will be in operation but it is an outdoor event so it won't really be an issue.

The event is fundraising for a new Parish Community Centre, info can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/Alverstoke-New-Parish-Centre-615626591981064

Recommendation for a reliable cleaner in Gosport - 0 replies

BrigitteB Posted by BrigitteB in General Gosport discussion on Tue Jan 12, 2021 5:37pm

Hi, am searching on behalf of my elderly mum who's returning home in a few weeks.  Due to a bad fall in August, she's been in hospital and then temporarily in a care home.  The injuries are still healing, she's quite limited in walking, so she's no longer able to live independently and will be reliant on support services.  One of those is a cleaner, who could also provide help with things like changing bed linen, doing a laundry wash, occasional ironing.  But also someone who's happy to have a quick chat and perhaps a cuppa.  I envisage needs will be once a week, probably 1 hour, occasionally 2 hours, depending upon requirements.

I'm new to the Forum after a cousin recommended it as a way of 'asking around' to see if anyone has details of a cleaner they'd be happy to recommend.  Thanks.

Brand new to Gosport. - 0 replies

wiflib Posted by wiflib in Introduce yourselves in Gosport on Sat Aug 29, 2020 12:26pm

Well hello everyone!

I'll be moving to Gosport very soon (solicitors pending) and I don't know the area at all so I'm hoping to do lots of exploring and find the hidden gems that only you know about.

First on the list is finding a choir I can join (no religious connections at all please) and then the quirky, unusual shops, museums, galleries, history and architecture.

I'm also partial to a good cup of coffee so name your best.

Thanks all :-)

How is our world going to change going forward! - 2 replies

Mark68 Posted by Mark68 in General Gosport discussion on Tue Apr 14, 2020 11:58am

It does not matter what profession or what your individual passions are, going forward these will change.

Sit back and reflect what you did or was doing last month, working pattern, visiting, eating out ETC

Now image what it will be like in 6mths time!! The reality is we have to re-write the social and working rule book and work in a totally different way from Health & Safety to family environment

To view the world as ‘Back to Normal’ will never be, those within our population who feel that will be the case are going to be sadly disappointed.

Now it not all gloom and doom, it is felt the world will become better, we are all showing those signs now, tolerance and respect for each other, differences set a side and ask your self two questions

1. How many more people did you speak to today against two weeks ago?

2. How much more laughter have you endured over past weeks?

We are a very resilient species that thrives on problems and diversity we will get through this and become better for it.

stay safe and look after yourselves and others around you.
