Hi Woodhurst residents.
I would like to take this opportunity to alert everyone to our new Facebook group: POWI (people opposing Woodhurst Incinerator).
The plans are for medical/hazardous waste at The Heath, Bluntisham as part of Envar’s ‘Woodhurst Regeneration’ scheme (there is already a compost site there).
There already upwards of 40 HGVs entering the site daily. The proposal states their will be 40 HGVs for the medical waste (at 365 days a year this equals 14,600 heavy-goods vehicles on our local roads each year). This will add to the already increasing traffic burden which has been officially predicted to rise by 35% in 15 years.
Bluntisham Parish Council is formulating a rebuttal based on all material planning considerations (which includes the effects of traffic but also views, light, noise, pollution, etc.). It does not include concerns about potential health/environmental risks from emissions (residual, long-term effect of dioxins, for example) at this stage.
We need your help. The Heath is at a high point and all surrounding villages, along with St. Ives will be affected by this (wind and traffic).
Please make your objections known to Cambridgeshire County Council and your MP (Shailesh Vara).
You have probably seen the protest signs on the roads and at farms, including Colne Farm, opposite the crossroads. We need more signs (in your windows, if necessary).
