A new book based in Weymouth
I was wondering how many members have read the new thriller - "The Queen of Downtown" by Philip Holmes. I stumbled across it on Goodreads, and downloaded the e-book from Amazon after checking out several positive reviews, and was delighted to discover that the majority of the story is set in Weymouth. It's a very powerful story, but not without its fair share of sex and violence, so it's not for everybody. Saying that the town features prominently and it was great fun recognising the landmarks that are detailed. Nothe Gardens, the Old Harbour, Brewer's Quay, and several pubs and clubs all get a mention. The cover of the e-book features a view of Newton's Cove. On the "About the author" home page on Goodreads, Philip says that he is a regular visitor to the town with his family and when he started writing the story, he wanted to include his favourite resort. The Dorset Echo ran a feature on the book a couple of months ago which I read online. It was just so nice to read a book that featured Weymouth, can't think of many, if any other books that are set in the town.
