Possible relocation

Hey everyone!

My family and I may possibly be relocating within the next year, and as exciting as it may be, I am also finding the prospect of it quite daunting. Fortunately my husband has already been offered a job, hence the relocating part. We have 2 children, a son who will be 12 at the time of the move and a 9 year old daughter.

We currently live in a quiet village just outside Cambridgeshire and I’m keen to still have that village feel when we move, but with amenities nearby. I need to start looking at good primary schools for my daughter as she will be completing her last 2 years, and my son will be starting year 8.

If you have any good recommendations on schools/nice villages I’d hugely appreciate it! Also any other general tips for relocating or good things in the area to get involved with.

Thanks! 😊

Sounds like you would like some of the outskirts of Weymouth to retain your village feel.

Portland is very interest with a strong community vibe I believe, Good bus service and lots of walks/history. Linked to the mainland by a causeway.

Chickerell is quite nice with the original village at its heart but quite a lot of modern housing around. Facilities are quite good and easy access to the Bridport/Abbotsbury side of Weymouth including Chesil Beach and Lyme Bay. Lots of walking wherever you go.

At the more expensive end is Sutton Poyntz, still a village with duck pond and very pretty. Close to the White Horse and associated walks.

Wherever you decide the option for schools is quite good and I haven't heard any negatives.
