We have found two small white dogs, friendly, clearly loved. No collars or identification, looks like they've escaped from their home? Found originally by someone else near Woodpecker Way in Great Cambourne - that person thought there was a third dog but no-one has found that one. We'd like to get them returned to their owners so if you have any idea who they belong to please let us know - Rachel or Simon on 07887 676525 or 07956 37268 or 01954 712509.

A428 Dualling What this means for You! - 0 replies

Cambee Posted by Cambee in General Cambourne discussion on Sat Jul 20, 2019 8:37pm

Public Consultation Ends 28th July 2019

For your views to be heard go to

1.The present A14 works are permanent reducing the the A428 down to a single lane at Girton clover leaf.  If the A428 is dualled along the rest of its length. More traffic will arrive at this point more quickly. This will mean a bigger headache for commuters heading east towards Cambridge and beyond where this bottle neck is being created. Queues at Girton and on madingley road where traffic merges into a single lane are likely to get longer as a result of planned A428works. The new dualling proposals should not be looked at in isolation of this. Otherwise they could be making things worse.

2. At caxton gibbet proposals are to elevate the A428 over the A1198 this means more noise and more of an eyesore across the landscape. Why can't the road dip down underneath the A1198 as at other junctions? Wildlife will find this a greater barrier

3. On the present A14 I've noticed near the wood green animal centre they've installed solid concrete central reservation barriers.  This completely prevents wildlife from crossing the road. If they make it to the middle of the road then they end up unable to cross further and are killed. Please comment for this type of solid concrete barrier not be installed along any new dualled A428.

Just some thoughts, but please go to the highways England website and post your own views before the 28th July 2019.

Thank you.

Local delivery Driver needed

Owner driver for local distribution company.

Regular work guaranteed, good rates of pay + mileage allowance.

Good morning to everyone in the Cambourne Forum.

My name is Mick Weldon. I am a married father of two living in Cambourne. I have been diagnosed with a rare form of stomach cancer which has spread to my liver and surrounding organs. This cancer has been deemed incurable, and all conventional treatments through the NHS have come to an end. Recently I took part in a test externally to the NHS to try and match my cancer to an available treatment, this test came back negative. Please read the local news report here:

http://www.cambridge-news.co.uk/news/cambridge-news/cambourne-cambridge-cancer-treatment-oncologica-13047717

As you can imagine this news came as a massive blow to us as a family, but there was a shaft of sunlight through a huge dark cloud... As well as being tested against all known targeted therapies, an immunotherapy test was performed on my tumour samples, and I have been deemed to be an ideal candidate for this new ground breaking anti cancer treatment. Unfortunately this treatment, and any other treatments that I need to embark on are not covered under the NHS due to there being no evidence of efficacy against my cancer, but when a cancer is so rare, how can there be any evidence without actually trying the treatment?

Anyway, these results have never been seen in a cancer like mine before, and as a result of my tests another 55 people have been put forward to be tested for this new treatment. This is amazing news, because if we can prove to the NHS over the course of three cycles that this new treatment is a viable option, then the NHS HAVE to action these new treatments, not just for myself, but for countless others to follow.

I have written this post to ask the people of my local community if they can help with my cause in anyway that they can... I am hoping to get some fundraisers off the ground, and I am also hoping that some of the local business people out there could help to spread the word to try and raise awareness of this cause, but I really don't know where to start, and I am humbly requesting the help of this community to raise awareness of this campaign.

I understand I am just an individual, but this started with me getting help with my terminal cancer diagnosis, and now I have a viable option of treatment, not just for myself but for a lot of people that will come after me. Cancer will touch all of us in our life times, but with your help we don't need to let cancer be the death sentence that it presents itself as. I have an opportunity to spend some extra time with my family before the inevitable happens, and hopefully with your help we can make that time as long as possible.

Thank you for reading my story.

Please help to support my cancer fight - 0 replies

Mickeyweldon Posted by Mickeyweldon in General Cambourne discussion on Sun May 14, 2017 2:19am

My name is Mick and I am a 39 year old from Cambourne, who has been diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic cancer. I have a unique opportunity to test some new drugs that could potentially save my life, and save the life of countless others.

I am currently trying to raise the funds to pay for these drugs to provide evidence to the NHS that this is a viable treatment for people with my rare subset of cancer.

Please can you read my story and possibly share as wide as possible. You could really make a difference to not only my life, but the lives of many others who follow.

Please can you help my Cancer fight. I have been given a unique opportunity to not only to extend my life, but to help other people in a similar situation with cancer. ‪
Please can you share as wide as possible, by social media, email, or any other way.
My thanks go out to each of you.
