Lost: Car and garage key lost in Hazel Grove - 0 replies
Hi everyone. I recently lost my mum & my dad passed some years before. They both lived in HG for many decades as did I. My dad was a skilled tradesperson who had many hobbies. One of them was called Marquetry, the art of creating pictures out of wood veneers. Our local pub near where we lived was the Rising Sun pub a land mark place in the village most will know. Dad created a picture of the iconic pub many decades back. You can see in the picture to the left the old telephone box's we used to have, we used to use 2p coins back then for a call.
I'm now wishing to sell it on as a peace of history to someone who lives in the village. There isn't another like it anywhere & our pubs our fast disappearing as many will know. I'm asking just only £60 for it. There is between 60 to 80 working hours involved to create such a picture. Anyone interested please get in touch.

With the costs of living set to rise again, transport poverty has recently been recognised as an additional financial burden that low-income households are struggling with. However, currently, local transport policies and anti-poverty strategies do not directly confront the transport poverty issue.
Hosted by transport inequalities experts from The University of Manchester, this event is an opportunity to join speakers from councils, community organisations and charities across Greater Manchester to discuss the experiences of local people and highlight the important issues that need to be tackled.

Reminiscing about childhood memories of the 1950s - 0 replies
Hi,
I was born in Stepping Hill just before Christmas 1945 - an early baby boomer. I lived on Clarendon road for the next 20 years before I emmigrated to Australia as a single guy. My bedroom overlooked the reservoir (reser) which was my iconic childhood playground. I remember too fishing on the sandbank shoulder to shoulder with dozens of other boomers - hoping to catch a roach, but more likely only catching a tiddler.
I live now in Perth Western Australia and I often look back with nostalgia about those childhood days and wonder if there are other members who would like swap memories of those iconic times?

Walter Bowden's garage on Commercial Road - 0 replies
Can anyone help me find old photos or information about my grandfather Walter Bowden? He had a house and garage on either Buxton Road or Commercial Road in Hazel Grove up to about 1980. I think it may now be the site of Marks and Spencer but I'm struggling to pin down the exact location, any help or memories will be gratefully recieved. There used to be sweet shop just around the corner from his garage.
