Seeking Garden Owners for Rewilding Project Testing - 0 replies

ZK Posted by ZK in General Kingston upon Thames discussion on Sun Nov 26, 2023 8:28pm

Hello,

I'm a student from Kingston University, working on a rewilding project aimed at developing a humane, non-invasive method to manage urban fox interactions in gardens. I'm seeking a garden owner who would be willing to assist in testing my prototype.

Test Details:

Device: A prototype device with lights and sound, designed to gently deter foxes without causing harm.

Duration: The test will last a few days.

Your Role: Allow the installation of the device in your garden and provide access during the test period.

Your participation will be immensely valuable to the success of this project and to advancing rewilding efforts in our community. If you're interested or would like more information, please contact me via private message.

Thank you for considering this opportunity to contribute to local rewilding initiatives!

Best regards

Job vacancy: Looking for Mentor / LSA - 0 replies

ZT 204 Posted by ZT 204 in Job search in Kingston upon Thames on Sat Apr 15, 2023 3:30pm

Calling all Learning Support Assistants!!!

Looking for a mentor / LSA for my 13-year-old son.

He really likes school but has ASD which means he gets very anxious especially when school. This anxiety gets in the way of his learning a lot of the time. He wants to do well at school and pass his GCSEs - likes most of the teachers except for a couple who don’t “get” him.

We are looking for someone to be in the classroom but not look over his shoulder or necessarily even sit next to him. That person would need to be able to monitor him and help him to cope with the busyness of the school environment so that he can get on with learning. He needs someone who he feels always has his back.

Someone who "gets" him is far more important to us than someone with a string of qualifications. Would be employed by the school which is in Kingston.

Please contact us if you think you can help!

Infant observation - 0 replies

ykim0819 Posted by ykim0819 in General Kingston upon Thames discussion on Thu Nov 24, 2022 1:17pm

Hello!

I am a year 1 student at Tavistock and Portman NHS, studying an MA course in ‘Working with children, young people and families: A psychoanalytic observational approach’.

I am in the search of finding a family who would be willing to open up their doors to carry out observations of their newborn baby.

The purpose of the observation is so that I can gain an understanding of the development and interaction of the baby.

The observation will mean that I will observe parent(s) with the child for approximately an hour, same time, same day of the week.

All of the observations will be strictly confidential and written materials and discussions will not contain any identifiable details concerning the family.

I can surely say that it is a commitment but I have also heard that as sensitive a time frame it is and personal. There have been great findings that have been a gaining experience for both parties.

I have an enhanced DBS check that has been provided by the institute and if this does move you in any way to consider opening your doors, please feel free to contact me.

Does the word Ethical still exist in Estate Agent language? - 0 replies

Veronique71 Posted by Veronique71 in Recommended Tradesmen and Companies in Kingston upon Thames on Wed Jun 22, 2022 10:47am

My estate agent agreed to terminate my 3 year contract early as long as they found a new tenant. They said they would find a resolution so I would not be charged until the end of my contract.

THE REALITY WAS:

As soon as I moved out of my rental and the new tenant moved in, my letting agent charged me for the next 20 months a management fee of £5000.

I wonder how many Estate Agents would think it is ethical to charge a management fee from two different tenants for the same property and for the same period of time?

The answer from the director of the estate agent: "we are not a charity".

Joss Posted by Joss in Moving to Kingston upon Thames: tips and advice on Sat Sep 25, 2021 1:26pm

Hello neighbours! We have recently moved to Kingston upon Thames and absolutely love it here already. We have a least a dozen boxes that we no longer need. It was so hard for us to get these boxes so we thought we’d write a post here to check if anyone needed them before we throw them away (by 30th Sept 2021).  We’re giving them away for free. You’ll have to pick them up though!

New to the area - 0 replies

Pierre1 Posted by Pierre1 in General Kingston upon Thames discussion on Fri Aug 30, 2019 8:07pm

I start a new job in Kingston next and I’m looking for a room to rent. What areas should I be looking at or should avoid. I would like to be able to walk to work (or short bus ride) and be near a train into central London.

Any advice would be very welcome
