Hi Ryan
I received a contravention 33e for entering Burbage Rd via Gallery Road.
I do recall seeing a 'No Through Road Ahead' upon entry on Gallery Road from Thurlow Park Road but as there were cars coming from opposite way it just confused me as to what the sign was about.
It wasn't until I turned left at the junction and drove through Burbage Road until Turney Road junction that I saw the big red " Restricted Access" signs placed at eye level that I began to realise what changes might have been made to traffic flow. But of course it was too late by then:(
I went back to trace my route and to find the sign that actually told me of the restriction on Burbage Rd. there was only one right at the entrance; small and not at eye level informing of times and vehicles allowed.
Would I have grounds to appeal on following please?
there are no signs on A205 warning on changes of traffic regulation when turning towards Dulwich Village. ( I strongly feel that early notice should be given)
I find both signs unclear for the car driver.
The no through sign is actually unclear as it is only no through for Burbage road therefore not specific (thats why there was still oncoming traffic on Gallery Road)
The actual sign being on Road entry is too late, too small and again not clear enough for the car driver who if seenat all, will need considerable time to decipher if it is applicable to them.
Might you be able to help here please?
I often used to take this route to get to Herne Hill from Forest Hill but haven't done so since pandemic. On the day I gad my Covid booster jab and my thinking was to reduced driving hence pollution time. I tend to cycle more these days. As car drivers we are slowly getting used to LTNs and having big flower plants helps to get used to changes in traffic routes. Changes to traffic flow should be made much more visible if the intent really is about supporting better air quality.
Many thanks for your time.
