Latest lovely name under nominative predetermination heading- item on Countryfile today about a woman in Lancashire who does hand made witches' besom brooms. Her name? Natasha Twigg.

Any child with an unfortunate surname gets my sympathies. Come to that, even christian name's can result in merciless teasing. One of my great nephew's name is William and being the youngest, he is often thoughtlessly called 'little Willie'. He has cousin's with the surname Bates and Pratt. Life can be so unfair.

I remember teaching one poor kid. His name was Spruyt- a Dutch name and pronounced summat like Sprout. So his parents called him Russell. I feel sorry for bearers of names like Smallpiece!

And the ignorance of those who answered messages too.  Nowhere near in the same league, but in Nature's Wierdest Events today there was a marine biologist Dr Steve Haddock, and his colleague de Witt Webb.
