Hi......any ex Streetlife member receiving email inviting them to join Nextdoor? I got an invite from a person I don't even know......just curious!!
I have not received anything but they must be feeling the love if they need to canvas for members
Isn't that breaching the data protection that ICO said Nextdoor weren't?

When I closed my streetlife account I asked them to delete all my information and not to use it, if I do receive one I would be very annoyed.
I did the same as Jasper - should I receive one, I shall definitely take it further.

I asked Streetlife to delete all my data.Hopefully I will not get any emails re Nextdoor.
Things must be getting a bit dire if they are canvasing for people.
I haven't had any correspondence from nextdoor since I moved over, I shall be annoyed as well if I do.

I am signed up to Nextdoor (although this site here, and Talk About Norwich, are much better substitutes for Streetlife). Every day I get an email from Nextdoor with a post (or posts) if people have made any, headed with "Help Sewell get to 30 members! Invite your neighbours >>"
So yes, it does look as if things are a bit desperate over there. Seems I would be posting to fewer than thirty people on Nextdoor (which of course might be far fewer), when on Streetlife I used to post to 1300+. It's a shame that TAN doesn't really seem so far to have taken off, but even on there they have 45 members.

I am posting this on other threads so sorry if you've already read it -
I had a call today from the Information Commissioners Office asking about my complaint - I had to query what it was and found out it was my reference to Nextdoor. It was a while back I messaged them and had forgotten. I had a good chat with them and they said they are investigating complaints against Nextdoor. I was asked to send them any communications, including Nextdoor replies as they would investigate up to 28 days. My initial messages are long gone so I will send another one to Nextdoor re-iterating my concern about privacy especially as a friend has recently messaged them and they included in their reply that criminals had been caught accessing Nextdoor but no crimes had been committed .......
Perhaps we can all do our part and continue to send messages to Nextdoor (you don't have to have joined to message them) outlining our concerns about privacy and then send their response to ICO. Who should you trust with your full name and address, certainly not someone you have never met in person. We are advised to shred papers with our name and address on in case of identity fraud.... I don't want a stranger knocking on my door introducing themselves because they've seen my address on Nextdoor.
We all seem to be saddened by the loss of Streetlife and Nextdoor' policy, so this is something we can do to vent our frustration/anger - so don't sit back ... send a message to Nextdoor and then send their reply to the ICO. Let's not take this lying down - we Brits can fight back against the American takeover.
For me to get that phone call weeks after sending my complaint to the ICO does show they are taking it seriously - so the more complaints they get the more they will investigate.
