Nah, course it ain't a scam. Americans are totally trustworthy - they've said so themselves. If we all club together, I'm sure we can construct a barge pole long enough not to touch it with !
If this is what Nextdoor is letting on their site I am glad I gave it a miss, let's hope all those names and addresses they insisted on have not been sold on to other scammers.
I won't be surprised if in the near future we see Nextdoor featured on watchdog or another consumer programme, to me it just scream stay away from this.

To be fair to nextdoor (for once!) That email almost certainly had nothing to do with them. Just someone mocked it up to look like a Nextdoor invite and has randomly got hold of people's email addresses.
Though there is a small possibility data has gone astray their end. After all, that's happened to better firms than them.

definitely not a scam - I have many times replied to these types of request to deposit substantial funds into my bank account from someone from abroad. It is thanks to all the people who are sceptical about such things and mark them as spam, that enables me to receive so much money rather than have it spread around loads of others. I am currently typing this from my luxury villa in Tahiti, but it doesn't show up as me being there as they do not have a local forum there. Trust me I really really am. Gotta go as the ice in my pina colada is melting.
My complaint to ICO was closed, with them saying it wouldn't be upheld. Interesting you've had that call HeyJan54.
Having closed my streetlife account and asking them to delete all my details today I received the following e-mail I am not impressed.
Hello Jenny
We've heard from a lot of Streetlifers who are missing their daily email updates and are wondering how they can keep in touch with what's happening locally. The good news is that there's an easy answer!
Join Nextdoor, the private social network for neighbours. Nextdoor is now active in thousands of neighbourhoods across the country, covering over 60% of households in the UK.
As a Nextdoor member, you'll be emailed a Daily Digest, giving you a useful summary of everything that's going on in your neighbourhood.
Hundreds of thousands of Streetlife members and dozens of local councils and policing teams have already created new accounts on Nextdoor. And in the past four weeks they've posted over 100,000 messages exchanging local news, recommendations and belongings, arranging community events, and helping each other out with everything from heavy lifting to finding lost cats.
If you're keen to keep in touch with your neighbours and stay in the local loop, you can create your account on Nextdoor at any time.
Get StartedSigning up is free and simple. You can use Nextdoor on desktop and mobile, or stay connected when you're on the go by downloading the app on iOS or Android. Why not give it a try?
How cheeky! I haven't received anything but I insisted my details were deleted.
I got this as well and I definitely closed my account. Now moved them to junk mail list,
